The history behind the Montague brand

  • Brought to you by

Montague stands out to us at IGA Locals Matter, as they’re a three generation family business, driven by their love of fruit and care for the community. They are fathers, mothers, sons, sisters, cousins and friends, and have built a network of growers across Australia.

Bill Montague AOM, began helping his father to deliver fruit to local schools and hospitals, and then went on to start his own fruit growing business in 1948 when he was 22 years old. Since then, Montague has been a 100% family owned business, growing over the years to become one of Australia’s largest fruit growers. Montague now grows over 4.6 million trees, with a family of growers that they work with and on land they’ve nurtured for 70 years. Their orchards safety, environmental and quality control standards are second to none.

Montague’s love of fruit has taken them around the world to find the best tasting, natural fruit varieties and bring them home, where they grow and test them before bringing them to you – because they love fruit as much as you do!

The MONTAGUE tree™ is Montague’s premium stone fruit offering, that includes many varieties of aprictors, nectarines, peaches and plums. At the IGA Locals Matter Community Program we love fresh, seasonal produce, but we also love to know that it’s come from a family run, Australian business who take pride in what they do.
