Matt’s relationship with his McGrath Cancer Care Nurse Jordan

Matt was connected with his McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Jordan, in July 2025 when he had just begun his chemotherapy treatment. Jordan quickly became an essential support system, guiding Matt and his family through the complexities of brain cancer treatment, with compassion, clarity and care.
“Jordan has been a blessing,” Matt shares. “He’s always there to answer my questions, no matter how small or silly they might seem. He never makes you feel like a burden, and you can tell he genuinely cares about how I’m doing.”

“It has all been such an unknown territory for us, but Jordan’s got
all the answers, he’s incredibly helpful”.

The Difference a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse Makes

Jordan’s role as a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse is to provide clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support, as well as help patients navigate the unfamiliar healthcare system. For patients like Matt, this continuity of care is vital.

Jordan says, “Matt’s journey into the unknown of brain cancer treatment has been challenging, but having someone reliable to turn to makes all the difference. Being there to answer questions and offer genuine support helps take the chaos out of a cancer diagnosis, reduces stress and empowers patients.”

Matt reflects on the broader impact of the McGrath Foundation taking its care to all cancers, “I have watched the Pink Test every year and think it’s amazing that the McGrath Foundation now supports people with any type of cancer, it’s an incredible move forward for cancer care in Australia. It’s been scary, but I feel lucky to have caught this at a time when support has been available for me and my family.”
